Pace the day
Overwhelm often arrives when the schedule outruns the people on it.
Pacing is the art of inserting quiet before anyone has to ask for it. Think in short waves of activity, then deliberate rest, so the day stays usable from morning into evening.
- Try a 90-minute on / 15-minute off rhythm when you can keep it.
- Sit in shade before anyone asks for it, especially after a long walk or wait.
- Check in with one feeling word every two hours (tired, okay, full, done).
- Swap a long line for a quieter walk or indoor sit without apologizing.
- Protect mid-afternoon: heat and crowd peaks are when early exits earn their keep.
A slower rhythm is not missing the park. It is how some of us stay present for the parts that matter.
